Global building sector emissions have increased by 1% annually since 2010 due to urbanization. Embodied carbon could account for 50% of emissions from new construction by 2050 if current practices continue. In India, building material manufacturing contributes 25% of primary energy demand and 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, while generating 150-200 million tonnes of construction waste annually.
